Ear Wax Removal at Pharmaceutra

Good ear health plays a big part in how we stay connected to the world around us. When wax builds up in the ear canal, it can affect your hearing, cause discomfort, and even lead to infections if left untreated. At Pharmaceutra, we offer a simple and effective ear wax removal service to help you hear clearly again — with no long waiting times and no need to see your GP first.

Why Good Ear Health Matters

Your ears do more than help you hear — they help with balance, focus, and day-to-day conversations. When something interferes with that, it can impact your mood, confidence, and social life. Wax build-up is a common cause of blocked hearing and can happen at any age. It’s often linked to frequent headphone use, over-cleaning with earbuds, long-term noise exposure, or just getting older.

What Is Ear Wax Removal?

Ear wax usually works its way out of the ear naturally, but sometimes it builds up and needs a little help. At Pharmaceutra, we use a method called microsuction ear wax removal. This involves gently removing the wax using a small suction device. It’s quick, safe, and typically doesn’t cause any discomfort. Many GP surgeries no longer offer this service, which is why pharmacy-based care is becoming a go-to option for people across the UK.

Do I Need Ear Wax Removal?

Most of the time, ear wax comes out on its own. But when it builds up, it can block your hearing and cause irritation. You might notice:

– Earache
– Muffled or reduced hearing
– Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
– A feeling of fullness or pressure in the ear

If you’ve been using olive oil drops for a week with no improvement, it might be time to book in for professional removal.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment

Before we can carry out the procedure, it’s important that you use olive oil ear drops for seven days. These drops soften the wax and make the process easier and more comfortable. If this step isn’t followed, we may need to reschedule your appointment.

You can buy olive oil drops in-store or online — just follow the instructions on the label and use them twice a day in the affected ear(s).

What to Expect During the Appointment

When you arrive, one of our trained pharmacists will have a quick chat with you about your symptoms. The microsuction procedure itself usually takes around 15 to 30 minutes. Most people find it painless, and many feel an immediate difference in their hearing afterwards. We’ll also let you know if any further treatment or advice is needed.

Pricing

We charge a flat fee of £60 for both ears. To secure your slot, a £10 deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining £50 is paid after your appointment.

If you’re unsure whether you need the service, feel free to pop in for a chat before booking.
